Forest City golfers have busy week heading into the post-season

The Forest City golf teams each took part in multiple meets last week, with a busy schedule to finish out their regular seasons.

On Monday, May 4, the boys golfed at Gruis Recreation Area, where they took on North Union and North Iowa and came away with a win. The Indians led in the team standings with a score of 155, followed by North Union with 169 and North Iowa with 182.

Bison golfers host last home meet of the year

North Iowa and Lake Mills compete in Eagle Relays

The North Iowa Bison and Lake Mills Bulldogs faced competition from both sides of the Top of Iowa Conference during the Eagle Relays in Britt on Monday, May 4.

The Lake Mills golf teams had a strong showing against conference opponents Garner Hayfield-Ventura and West Hancock on May 4 at the Garner Golf and Country Club. The Bulldogs battled cold temperatures and windy conditions but played well. 

Indians runners-up as local teams compete at Forest City girls’ relays

The Forest City girls’ track & field team hosted their annual home meet in Forest City during a cold and blustery night on Tuesday, Apr. 28. The Indians came away with a second place finish at the meet, which also featured the Bulldogs from Lake Mills and the Lady Bison from North Iowa.

North Iowa runners set two school records at Warrior Relays

Lauren Hillesland is the first runner in 44 years to break North Iowa High School’s record in the 1500-meter run. She cut more than a second off the 1982 record set by Kris Grimes to earn her own spot in the record books during the Warrior Relays in Armstrong last Thursday, Apr. 30. Hillesland clocked in at just over the five-minute mark at 5:00.21, to beat the old record of 5:01.4.

Forest City boys place second at Dave Long Relays

The Forest City boys persevered through a cold, windy, and rainy day in Mason City to take second place at the Dave Long Relays on Monday, Apr. 27.

Bulldogs and Indians head to Hampton for Jim Basye Coed Relays

It was another cool night for track but with somewhat better conditions last Friday, May 1 at the Jim Basye Coed Relays in Hampton. Both Forest City and Lake Mills sent squads to compete in a large field, with 14 girls’ teams and 11 boys’ teams.

Bison golfers play at Britt and Belmond

The North Iowa golf team played in two triangulars with conference opponents last week, with a second-place finish at Britt on Tuesday, Apr. 28, and a third-place finish at Belmond on Friday, May 1.

Lake Mills golf teams prevail at Belmond

The Lake Mills boys’ and girls’ golf teams both took first place in a triangular at Belmond on Friday, May 1, with Bulldogs also taking meet medalist honors.

Sam Grothe was medalist on the boys’ side, as he led with a score of 38. Next up for the Bulldogs was Braylon Hanson with 41, followed by Carter Ham 43, Conner Helgeson 49, Austin Mannes 54, and Korbin Abele 56.

Trap shooters compete with nearly 40 teams at Ventura

The North Iowa/Forest City trap team spent Saturday, May 2 at the Ventura Gun Club, where they were among 39 teams from 10 schools taking part in a meet hosted by the Mason City trap team. There were 181 trap shooters, hailing from Southland, Mason City, Lake Mills, North Iowa/Forest City, Osage, Central Springs, GHV, Northwood-Kensett, St. Ansgar, and Riceville.

Lake Mills girls win at Belmond-Klemme

The Lake Mills Bulldogs had a stellar night to claim their first team victory of the season on Friday, Apr. 24 at the Belmond-Klemme girls relays. The girls led by 70 points to take first place among seven teams at the event.

Forest City hosts last home golf meet, including Lake Mills

The Indian golf teams competed at Bear Creek Golf Course for the last time this season on Tuesday, Apr. 28, with a triangular featuring Lake Mills and Bishop Garrigan. 

The Forest City boys picked up a win on their home course with a score of 164, as they led Lake Mills with 182 and Bishop Garrigan with 190.

Bison and Bulldog boys compete at Cardinal Relays

The North Iowa and Lake Mills boys’ track and field teams both took part in the Cardinal Relays at Garner on Tuesday, Apr. 28, where they each won a single event.

Reynolds improves record time at Drake Relays

Forest City’s Holden Reynolds cemented his hold on a school record during the Drake Relays in Des Moines last Saturday, Apr. 25. Reynolds set a new record time of 53.99 in the 400-meter hurdles, which breaks the school record of 54.04 that he set on April 16 to qualify for the Drake Relays.
