Ruth Elizabeth (Bosma) Murra, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Nerdig) Bosma, was born July 31, 1932, on a farm in Hebron Township, Kossuth County near Stevens. The family moved to a farm east of Rake, and she attended Lincoln #1 country school, east of Rake. The family later moved to a farm northwest of Buffalo Center, and she graduated from the Buffalo Center Community School in 1949.

Dwight Eugene Winkleman was born July 25, 1931, in the Buffalo Center, Iowa hospital and spent the first 77 years of his life within the same square mile. The middle child between two sisters, he learned to drive a tractor at seven and – as the only boy – helped his parents care for the land from an early age.

Ronald “Ron” Langfald, a lifelong resident of Lake Mills, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Lake Mills Care Center. He was 91 years old.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Donna Verlaine Butler, on May 21, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born on December 16, 1935, in Lake Mills, Iowa, Donna was the eldest daughter of Orville and Palma Laugen. She was the sister of Phyllis and Howard, both of whom survive her, and the wife of Allan Keith Butler.

Phyllis G. Disque, age 89, of Forest City, IA, passed away at the Lake Mills Care Center on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Visitation for Phyllis will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Schott Funeral Home in Forest City, IA.

Rita Kay Charlson, age 74, of rural Forest City, IA, passed away at home on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 1, 2026 at Schott Funeral Homes, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, Iowa 50436 with Mr. Kermit Singelstad officiating. Visitation for Rita will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Monday.

Marlyn Gene Hassebroek, 87, of Buffalo Center, passed away on May 16, 2026, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Joy Dee Bray went to be with the Lord on Thursday May 7, 2026. She was born in rural Thompson, Iowa, on February 23, 1939, to Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Thompson.  Following graduation from Thompson Community School in 1956, she attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  In 1959, she married Bert Robinson and gave birth to her first daughter Robin.

Sandra Bashans passed away on April 28, 2026 at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center at the age of 88. A memorial service for Sandy was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.

David Allan Bruns, 88 of Fertile passed away on April 10, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Center in 

Bill Hansen, age 91, of Rake passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the Titonka Care Center. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth and continue one hour before the memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, May 18 at Patton Funeral Home.

Arlo Heyer, 75, died Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Homestead Assisted Living in Algona. Funeral services for Arlo were held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center. Burial was at Olena Mound Cemetery.
